Biography

Terri's natural facility and fascination with drawing, design and color led to an Associates Degree in graphic design and advertising from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. From there it was four years as an art director with a major advertising firm in Chicago. This corporate experience helped Terri focus on her passion for painting.

In 1980, Terri entered Carnegie-Mellon University and received her BFA in painting and color theory. She worked through a number of styles and paint mediums before settling on the depiction of common artifacts, given color, whimsy and substance with hard, graphic planes and flowing drapery.

For a course painting critique, Terri painted her jean jacket hanging on an easel, the success of which led to a clothesline theme of pants, shirts, boots and personal affects, without people. The "wardrobe portraits" presented first the personal items and lifestyles of people, then later evolved into the clothes performing without the people. These images are created on canvas and decorative, wood room screens.

Recently a pen and ink drawing exercise developed into a series of well realized erotic forms notable for movement, restraint, and sensuality. This series, titled "Gestures of Passion" is available as signed and numbered prints.

Terri lives in the DC Metropolitan area and accepts a number of commissions.
